Ca and Mg are secondary nutrients like Sulphur and are required in Ibs/bushel. We need 2 Ibs of Ca to make one bushel of canola.
Ca can act as a soft amendment and can tie up a salt when it releases the sulphate. Most all reclamation in the oil field uses calcium to reclaim lease sights.
Ca will help crops establish in marginally saline areas but not enough in the blend to correct a fully saline area.
We are thinking fertility or nutrition for feeding plants vs applying fertilizer, which plants don’t care for due to salt load.
Low N value which allows cheaper options and more flexibility on applying N as ammonia, or as trop dress etc.
