NLock 18% NBPT

NLock 18% NBPT is a urease inhibitor designed to protect urea-based fertilizers from ammonia volatilization losses. By temporarily blocking the urease enzyme responsible for rapid urea breakdown, NLock helps ensure more nitrogen stays available for crop uptake during critical early growth stages. With NLock, you protect your nitrogen, protect your investment, and protect your yield, enhancing your nitrogen fertility.

How It Works

NBPT (N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide) slows the conversion of urea into ammonium carbonate, preventing the quick release of ammonia gas into the atmosphere. This gives rainfall or irrigation more time to move urea into the soil, where plants can access it. The protection window lasts approximately 7–14 days, depending on weather and soil conditions.

Active Ingredient

NBPT: 18%. Carrier solvents make up the balance of the formulation to allow uniform coating.

Application Guidelines

Target Fertilizers: Urea, UAN. Recommended Application: 2.5–3.5 liters per metric tonne of urea depending on climate risk (confirm final label rates). Methods: Fertilizer blender coating, on-farm coating prior to application.
